URGENT: Urge your Senators to renew the Land and Water Conservation Fund

When the Senate was set to renew the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) late last December, Senator Mike Lee single-handedly blocked the bill. Now it looks the Senate is ready to move forward again -- and we need your help to make sure they save LWCF!

The Natural Resources Management Act contains several important measures, including renewal of the Land and Water Conservation Fund and a permanent ban on new mining claims north of Yellowstone National Park. If this critical public lands package passes, it will include money for public lands, parks, and public access.

The vote on the bill could be as soon as TODAY, so it’s crucial that we raise our voices in support.

Add your name to the petition calling on the Senate to pass S.47, the Natural Resources Management Act. And when you’re done, call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 to make sure they get the message!

The LWCF has funded 41,000 conservation and land projects over 54 years at the federal, state, and regional levels. It has protected over 2.3 million acres of forests and makes a huge contribution to the preservation of America’s natural beauty and resources.

And because the LWCF is funded from revenue generated by offshore oil and gas drilling, it all comes at zero cost to taxpayers! That’s one reason the program has always enjoyed strong bipartisan support.

But LWCF expired last September when Congress failed to reauthorize it -- costing the crucial program that supports our parks, public access, and public lands over $305 million to date. But, with your help, we can get the LWCF back up and running.

LWCF’s future hinges on what happens in the Senate this week. Don’t let the Senate neglect the LWCF any longer -- sign the petition and then call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 to demand they pass the Natural Resources Management Act today!
