We won in Congress, but Donald Trump chose allegiance to the Saudis over the lives of hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and vetoed the Sanders-Lee Yemen War Powers Resolution.Over the last year, hundreds of thousands of CREDO members, along with allies from across the country, took action to stop our government's complicity with the war and humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
This week, we have another chance to try override Trump. The House of Representatives can include a ban on funding the Yemen War as part of the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act. Can you make a call today to Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick to ask her to lead? Click here to get started with your call.
Since the start of the war in 2015, the United States has provided the Saudis with weapons and logistical and intelligence support. We have helped refuel coalition jets as they dropped bombs on Yemeni civilians under the guise of confronting Iran, which has limited ties to Yemen's Houthi rebels. Despite a bus bombing that killed 29 children and calls for greater U.S. oversight, the United States is still supporting the Yemen War – all without explicit congressional authorization.
The Khanna-Schiff amendment seeks to enforce the Yemen War Powers Resolution that Trump vetoed in three key ways:
  • It attaches it to the “must-pass,” hard-to-veto NDAA, which “funds the troops.”
  • It makes clear that stopping unauthorized participation in the war includes not giving intelligence that helps the Saudi-UAE coalition target airstrikes.
  • It prohibits providing spare parts to the war.
Lives are at stake. We must do all we can to push every member of the House of Representatives to use every avenue available to reassert Congress' constitutional authority and end our complicity in mass murder. Click the link below to get started with your call to Rep. Kirkpatrick:
