In committee at the capitol: threats to election access & redistricting process

This week at the capitol, there are some serious threats to election access and the redistricting process moving through committee. We need your help to stop these bills.
House Federalism, Property Rights, and Public Policy
HB 2397 is on the agenda in the House Federalism, Property Rights, and Public Policy committee tomorrow, February 13th at 2PM.
HB 2397, sponsored by Representative Thorpe (you may remember him from his attempt to suppress the student vote last session), would subject voters to a $25 fine if the address that they register to vote with does not match the address on file with the Motor Vehicle Division. If passed, this would unfairly target Arizonans that move frequently or don’t have adequate access to the MVD to complete the necessary updates.
We need your help to stop it. If you live in any of the Federalism Committee member’s districts, please call and call or e-mail them.

Senate Government
SCR 1034, sponsored by Senator Yarbrough, is scheduled to be heard in Senate Government on Wednesday, February 14th at 2PM. The bill would alter sections of the proposition that established the Arizona Redistricting Commission, among the changes an increase in the number of Commissioners to eight and allow for the legislature to refer alternate maps to the ballot, and if approved by voters, override the maps drawn by the Commission.
If you live in any of the Senate Government members’ districts, please call and e-mail them to let them know your position on the bill.
