Help Shape the Future of Transportation in Tucson

Shape the future of transportation in Pima County by giving input on PIMA COUNTY TRANSPORTATION PLAN Help Pima County Transportation develop a Master Plan that will guide improvements for walking, biking, driving and transit across the County for the next 30 years. The Transportation Master Plan will address all 9,189 square miles of Pima County and include 2,200 miles of roadway, along with pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and paratransit infrastructure.

Sun Tran Community Input Sessions

Sun Tran is proposing route and service enhancements to Routes 4, 8, 9, 102X, 104X, 108X, Sun On Demand, along with a new Route 124X, and new Sun Tran bus stop sign design. These recommendations are part of the 2024 Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) study. The recommendations will need to be approved by Mayor and Council in order to take effect in August of 2026.

Riders and community members are encouraged to attend a one-hour session and provide feedback on the future of Sun Tran's transit system. Here's how you can participate:

New Transit Schedules for Sun Tran, Sun Express & Sun Shuttle

Sun Tran, Sun Express and Sun Shuttle are rolling out new transit schedules beginning Sunday, February 25


All Sun Tran and Sun Express routes will have schedule changes.


Sun Tran Route 3 will have a routing change:

  • Routing change from 4th Avenue to Stone Avenue and Toole Avenue
  • Stops added: Northwest 6th Street/Herbert Avenue, and North East and South East of Toole Avenue/7th Avenue


Sun Shuttle



The following Sun Shuttle routes will have schedule changes: 413, 421X, 440, 450


Sun Shuttle has added a new trip, also known as timepoint, to Route 413 at Ina Road/La Cholla Boulevard, and Route 440 for the northbound Wednesday schedule.


Sun Shuttle Route 486 Ajo is now Operated by National Express, including Dial-a-Ride services. Dial-a-Ride customers can call (520) 441-6545 or 1(800) 242-9483 to schedule services. This change will NOT affect any service schedules.

Sun Tran, Sun Express y Sun Shuttle implementarán nuevos horarios de tránsito a partir del domingo 25 de febrero.


Todas las rutas de Sun Tran y Sun Express tendrán cambios de horario.


La Ruta 3 de Sun Tran tendrá un cambio de ruta:

  • Cambio de ruta de Avenida 4to a Avenida Stone y Avenida Toole

Sun Shuttle

Las siguientes rutas de Sun Shuttle tendrán cambios de horario: 413, 421X, 440, 450

Help the city determine improvements to create a more equitable, effective and efficient transit network!

Sun Systems Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) study beginning, public input requested!

Public is encouraged to attend the pop-up meetings, join the virtual public meeting, and provide comments through February 17, 2023.

 

The City of Tucson, in partnership with the Pima Association of Governments (PAG), is evaluating all aspects of Sun Tran, Sun Link, Sun Express, and Sun Shuttle services throughout Tucson and the greater Tucson area to determine potential improvements to create a more equitable, effective and efficient transit network. This analysis is called a Comprehensive Operational Analysis, or a COA. The City and PAG are requesting public input on these systems to ensure the future transit network better responds to community needs.



How to Get Involved

Whether you are a rider or not, the study team wants your input, and there are several ways you can get involved. Attend a pop-up event, view the virtual meeting or visit the online meeting website to learn more about the COA process, ask questions, and share your thoughts. Comments will be accepted anytime between January 23 and February 17, 2023, using any of the options below. You will also be asked to take a quick survey on the current state of Sun Systems and your feedback will be critical to the COA process and the future of transit in the Tucson and greater Tucson area.

The virtual Webex meeting, on Thursday, February 9 at 6 p.m., is open to all and will provide an option to participate and learn more about the COA for those who cannot attend an in-person pop-up event. The meeting details and login information are below.
