With massive U.S. support, Saudi Arabia has waged war in a Yemen for more than three years, resulting in around 50,000 direct casualties of violence and more than 113,000 children – 130 a day – dying of malnutrition and preventable disease.1,2 Progressive champions in the House of Representatives and Senate, led by Rep. Ro Khanna and Sen. Las December, the Senate approved an identical resolution – but former Speaker Paul Ryan blocked it in the House of Representatives. Now, with Democrats in charge of the House and bipartisan backing in both chambers of Congress, we have a shot at a life-saving victory.4 Trump's coziness with the Saudi regime is unacceptable, whether it's supporting the regime's war in Yemen or refusing to hold its leaders accountable for assassinating Jamal Khashoggi. It is Congress' responsibility to debate, vote on and authorize military action. But unless Congress asserts its authority and supports this new War Powers Resolution, it will continue allowing Trump to make the United States complicit in Saudi atrocities.5 Since the start of the war in 2015, the United States has provided the Saudis with weapons and logistical and intelligence support. We have helped refuel coalition jets as they dropped bombs on Yemeni civilians under the guise of confronting Iran, which has limited ties to Yemen's Houthi rebels. Despite a bus bombing that killed 29 children and calls for greater U.S. oversight, the United States is still supporting the Saudi war – all without explicit congressional authorization.6 This unauthorized war started under the Obama administration. But Donald Trump overturned a ban on selling precision-guided munitions to the Saudis and gave the regime a green light to double down.7 The death toll in Yemen has been heart-wrenching – but right now, a massive public outcry to end United States support for these atrocities could finally bring an end to this brutal war. It contributed to a fast-moving cholera outbreak – the largest documented in modern history – that is affecting more than 1.2 million people.8 It has also led to widespread starvation: 400,000 Yemeni children are at risk of death from starvation while the United Nations estimates that as many as 13 million people in Yemen are on the verge of famine.9,10 Saudi forces are using food as a weapon of war by enforcing a blockade that is stopping much needed food, medicine and supplies from entering the country.11 Lives are at stake. Tell Congress: Block any bill that would supercharge Trump's war on immigrants

Republicans are doubling down on Donald Trump's anti-immigrant agenda. While immigration agents are tearing apart families and locking up children at the border, Paul Ryan and members of his party are pushing two xenophobic bills through the House that would supercharge Trump's war on immigrants.1,2 Both bills include provisions to protect Dreamers in exchange for measures that would destroy our countries immigration system and institutionalize Trump's hate. To protect our immigrant family members, friends and neighbors, we must make clear to every member of Congress that a vote for these bills is a vote to ramp up Trump's reign of terror. Republicans' latest legislative push is another desperate attempt to appease the racist bigot who is leading their party and currently occupying the Oval Office. Rep. Bob Goodlatte's Securing America's Future Act and Paul Ryan's Border Security and Immigration Reform Act would give Trump the majority of his anti-immigrant wish list. They would:3,4 Prevent thousands of immigrants from reuniting with their families. Eliminate the diversity visa lottery. Expand Trump's deportation army. Militarize the border and fund Trump's southern border wall. Strip due process and protections from children and families seeking asylum. Paul Ryan released a draft of his bill last week and said it would end Trump's cruel family separation policy, but all it would do is allow some asylum seekers to be jailed with their children.5 Immigrant families are not enemies of the state. None of them belong behind bars. These anti-immigrant reforms could hurt tens of thousands of immigrant families, but the white supremacist in chief is still not satisfied. On Friday, Trump announced that he would not support Paul Ryan's bill because it was not extreme enough.6 Next week, negotiations will continue and Republicans could cave to Trump's demands and add more dangerous provisions to these bills before they vote. We must do everything we can to block them. With Attorney General Jeff Sessions' decision to revoke asylum protections for survivors of domestic violence and gang violence7 and his new directive to criminally charge8 all undocumented immigrants, any bill that expands Trump's deportation army and ends core immigration programs would put more immigrant families and children behind bars. It's up to us to make sure Congress fights back. Every member of Congress must make a choice: Will they help stop Trump's reign of terror on immigrant communities and block these bills or collaborate with his racist regime and help it terrorize families and children? Whether they choose to be on the right side of history is up to us. Stop Republicans in Congress from gutting our earned benefit programs

Donald Trump’s Republican lapdogs in Congress just rammed a massively unpopular, cruel and deeply corrupt Tax Scam into law. Now, Paul Ryan and the rest of the right-wing Republican leadership in Congress is gearing up to slash Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, nutrition assistance and more.1 Republican ideologues like Ryan know their Robin-Hood-in-reverse agenda to enrich their billionaire donors from Wall Street by gutting our earned benefit programs is deeply unpopular. They learned the hard way this past year how unpopular cutting Medicaid is. That is why they are predictably using made-up excuses about the deficit to smear these important programs. We need to make it clear that any attempt to privatize, cut, weaken or damage Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security or any of our earned benefits is completely unacceptable. Even before the Trump Tax Scam passed, Ryan was talking about his plans to gut Medicaid and Medicare in 2018. “We're going to have to get back next year at entitlement reform,” he promised last week, suddenly rediscovering a passion for the deficit after pushing trillions in tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy.2 Medicare is a fundamental tool of economic security for more than 58 million seniors, and the program is overwhelmingly popular.3,4 And throughout the summer, activists with the disability rights organization ADAPT and others showed Republicans just how important Medicaid is in their daily lives. The majority of Medicaid beneficiaries are children and working-age adults, Medicaid spends more money on long term care for seniors and people with disabilities than anything else.5 Social Security, meanwhile, is totally funded for the next two decades – longer if everyone pays at the same rate – and the only retirement income that most Americans can count on.6 Donald Trump repeatedly pledged during the 2016 campaign not to attack Medicare, Medicaid or our Social Security system but he has since seriously undermined these programs. Ryan’s ultimate goal is to end Medicare as we know it and replace it with a privatized program.7 Now, Trump and his lapdogs in Congress are not just coming after Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, they are attacking programs like Meals on Wheels, SNAP, and other nutritional assistance that families rely on. Republicans are whipping up a fake deficit hysteria after giving massive giveaways to the rich as a Trojan horse to attack our earned benefits. We must go all out to resist any cuts. If Ryan gets his way, folks who have been working their whole lives counting on Medicare in their retirement won’t ever be able to enroll – instead they will get a check that might help cover their premium for private insurance, if they are lucky.8 And if the Republicans are successful in their attacks on Medicare and Medicaid, they will come next for Social Security. What’s more, our Social Security system is separate from regular taxes and not affected by the deficit.9 Republicans cannot attack our earned benefits without a major fight. Paul Ryan just gave a passionate call to cut taxes of on the wealthy and corporations. I watched his press conference and left these responses. 

Easy tax forms would be GREAT. But that doesn't mean not taxing corporations and the richest people the planet has ever known. How do you think they got that way? They don't pay their workers a living wage and they don't pay their taxes .

Our country will never recover from the trillion dollar tax cut they are giving to the rich. That is part of their plan. Then they can sell off our services to their rich friends. They will privatize our highways and bridges - so we will pay for them twice (with the incentives to the banks and continuing tolls.) How do you think Ryan got as rich as he is? He is working for them, not us.

In the fifties corporations and the rich paid more taxes and our economy thrived. That is also true of the states that tax the rich more. The rich don't want to pay anything. They get subsidies and they use up our resources and they use our services - but they don't want to pay for that. Why do you think our infrastructure (which they use for their businesses) is crumbing. They take out, they don't put enough in. And now they want to be taxed even less!

Repealing the estate tax will only benefit the richest families in America. They will not invest that money in the economy. They aren't now. They are hording it and buying our politicians with it. Less than one percent of the population has more money than 90% of Americans combined. This tax plan will just increase that divide.

In order to give these tax cuts to the rich, Trump's budget cuts important services and healthcare for the American people. Working Americans will continue to pay taxes, and not get the services we need.

Some Republicans Think They May Have A Health Care Deal. Call your Rep today!

"If at first you don’t succeed, make things worse, then try, try again. That seems to be Republican leaders’ motto when it comes to repealing the Affordable Care Act. Amid a bruising recess, during which many congressmen faced heat at town halls for their support of Trumpcare, majority leaders have continued working on their plan to strip health coverage from millions of people. And now, some Republicans think they may have reached a deal.

"The new deal, which majority leaders hope will be able to unite the far-right Freedom Caucus and moderate House Republicans, is even worse than the previous version of the bill.

"The newest bill, which is expected to be introduced before Trump’s 100th day in office, allows states to seek waivers to get rid of protections for people with pre-existing conditions and to get rid of Essential Health Benefits like maternity care, prescription drugs, and hospital visits. Allowing states to strip these protections would cause premiums to skyrocket for people with pre-existing conditions, according to a new CAP analysis.

"... The reality, however, is that insurers would be able to effectively deny coverage by pricing sick people out of the market."
